Mortgage Corner

Buying a house is a large step in building a secure financial future. But because of common misconceptions many people believe that this is out of their reach.  Do not let these common myths keep you from being a home owner.  Over the next few newsletters I will cover these five common Myths that create barriers to home ownership.

Myth 1 – “I can’t afford a down payment” It used to be a requirement to have a 20% down payment when purchasing your home but not anymore.  There are numerous programs that allow first time home buyers to get into a new home with no down payment at all.  In fact, 7 out of 10 first time homebuyers get into their homes with a down payment of 10% or less.

Remember to always consult a Mortgage Professional before house hunting so you know what your purchasing power is and to get a pre-approval letter.
