HOME WARRANTIES

When you purchase a home, you are often asked whether you want a home warranty or not. Is this a necessary item?

          The purchase of this is totally in the buyer’s hands. Like most things, there are reasons to do and reasons not to do. Some things to think about when you purchase the new home:

  1. Is everything under a warranty already such as a builder’s warranty or manufacturer’s warranty? This occurs with new homes mostly or homes that have new items such as heat pumps/appliances/windows.
  2. If something breaks down, will I have the funds to fix it? Sometimes you will not have available funds to fix something major during the first year after purchasing your home.

The cost of the Home Warranty is usually less than $500. And, many times the seller will provide it in the sale dollars. Most owners want to sell you a safe, sound, secure home and you want to purchase the same.
